Options that are adapted to your skills and desire for sailing
Whether you are a sailor at the heart or simply a sea lover, a resident or a visitor, Mowgli will offer you options that are adapted to your desire to learn, to compete or to go on a day cruise.
Sea outings begin with a breakfast served on board at dawn. The trip lasts until sunset, which you will have the privilege of admiring in the magnificent setting of the protected marine area, a few miles away from Gustavia. The boat is equipped with a silent electric engine but uses its sails most of the time; it makes approaching the marine wildlife easier, causing lesser disturbance. You can come across the turtles that live in Colombier Bay. This site is part of the reserve and equipped with moorings in order to preserve the environment. It lends itself to swimming and to the observation of the marine fauna and flora.
Sporty types can enrol in the sailing school or even rent the two ‘Sharks’, Mister Walker and Lil’e to challenge their favourite opponents in match racing.
Whether you wish to become an independent sailor or simply to have fun in a heavenly training setting, the technical courses will provide you with the manoeuvring, weather and communication skills required.
Regattas are occasionally organised and you can take part in these events aboard one of Mowgli’s boats. This is the perfect opportunity to get into the water!
Mowgli’s sailing school takes part in the ‘Voiles de St Barth’ event
This is a valuable initiative that is worthy of being brought to your attention: Mowgli has registered his two ‘Sharks’ for the famous regatta, ‘Voiles de St Barth’. It is a bold move given that weather conditions can rapidly prove difficult for these light boats. The wind can quickly reach –even in good weather – some 25 knots and eventually gust to 30 knots! Mowgli will be the helmsman of one of the boats and his best students will be steering the other, which is a great reward for them and a perfect show of mutual trust!
It is also a huge challenge to compete with exceptional boats like Rambler or Sojana. Even if Gunnar Stenback’s hull design remains timeless, one must keep faith in one’s sporting goals when sailing alongside such powerhouses on the extent of water!
